Abstract: Polyvanadates [BdaH2](VO3)2 (A), [BdaH2]3V10O28. 6H2O (B), and [BdaH2]2H2V10O28. 4H2O (C) were synthesized from the system V2O5-1,4-butanediammonium (Bda)-H2O-(HCl). Syntheses variables were: mole ratio n(V): n(Bda), concentration of V, pH of the solution, and reaction temperature. Compounds were characterized by S-ray powder diffraction and IR spectra. The thermal decomposition in air was also studied. As the intermediate reaction product of the compound C was determined nonaqueous dihydrogendecavanadate [BdaH2]2H2V10O28 (D). V2O5 was the final reaction product of all compounds.
