Cryometric determination of the enthalpy of fusion of sodium cryolite

Abstract:  Using the method of classical thermal analysis a part of the liquidus of sodium cryolite in the system Na3AlF6—Na3FS04 was measured in the composition range 0—5 mole % Na3FSO4. On the basis of these results the molar enthalpy of fusion of cryolite was calculated. It was found that ∆Hf(Na3AlF6)=115.4 kJ mol-1; error in this result was estimated to be ±4.9 %.
