Abstract:  The dehydrochlorination of poIy(vinyl chloride) under atmospheric pressure of hydrogen chloride has been studied in the temperature range 190—250 °C up to high conversions. Activation energy of the process is found to be (107.3 ± 3.4) kJ mol-1. A new mechanism for the autocatalytic influence of hydrogen chloride based on the reinitiation of allyl catalysis is proposed.
