Copper(II) complexes containing organic ligands. XIX. 2-Isopropyl-5-methylphenoxyacetatocopper(II) complexes

Abstract:  The thymoxyacetate ions react in aqueous solution with the Cuions to give anhydrous copper(II) thymoxyacetate which shows magnetic and spectral properties typical of the binuclear carboxylatocopper(II) complexes with bridge structure. Cu(TOAc)₂ (TOAc = thymoxyacetate ion) reacts with N- and О-donor molecular ligands (L) to yield complexes Cu₂(TOAc)₄L₂ or Cu(TOAc)₂L₂. The magnetic and spectral properties of the complexes Cu₂(TOAc)₄L₂ thus prepared confirm that they belong to the carboxylatocopper(II) complexes with binuclear bridge structure of the type of copper(II) acetate monohydrate. On the other hand, the complexes Cu(TOAc)₂L₂ exhibit magnetic and spectral properties typical of the mononuclear copper(II) com­ plexes with tetragonal symmetry.
