Abstract: The elimination of acetic acid from 2-acetoxyiminomethylquinoxaline-1,4-dioxide and the formation of 2-cyanoquinoxaline-l,4-dioxide in trifluoroacetic acid is a first-order reaction. A novel experimental procedure of kinetic measurements using a direct recording of a height of signal selected from the spectrum of a reacting compound was found to be superior to the commonly used repeated recording of the corresponding part of the spectrum.
