Reaction of boric acid with salicylic and chromotropic acids and with their derivatives

Abstract: The formation consts. of the 1:1 B chelates with salicylate, sulfosalicylate, p-aminosalicylate and 1,2-, 2,1- and 2,3-hydroxynaphthoate were evaluated from potentiometric curves of the acid-base titrns. at pH 8-10. The difference of 4 orders of magnitude between consts. for the chelates BL(OH)₂ with 1,8-dihydroxynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonate and 8-amino-1-naphthol-3,6-disulfonate indicates that the affinity of the central B atom for the N donor atom is much smaller than that for the O.
