Kinetics of the dissolution of zinc with the formation of solid product

Abstract: Kinetics of the dissolution of zinc in the solution of oxalic acid in hydrochloric acid at different concentration of both components has been studied. Conditions of the reaction completion have been investigated in view of the formation and growth of layer of solid product on the surface of dissolved phase. On the basis of temperature dependence of the dissolution rate of zinc it has been found that the dissolution rate is controlled by the diffusion of reacting components of the medium through the layer.
