Abstract: cf. CA 55, 23263b.-By thermal analysis and by a visual method the cryolite angle of the system Na3AlF6AlF3-Al2O3-NaCl (I) was studied to det. the effect of the addn. of NaCl on the temp. of the primary crystn. and on the soly. of Al2O3 in fusions of the system Na3AlF6-AlF3-Al2O3. Liquidus diagrams of 4 cuts of I at cryolite ratios 2.75, 2.50, 2.25, and 2.00 were constructed. They are analogous to those of the system Na3AlF6-Al2O3-NaCl. AlF3 decreases the temp. of primary crystn. and the soly. of AlO3 in cryolite fusions, in agreement with data in the literature. The addn. of NaCl decreases the temp. of primary crystn. by approx. 90°. The decrease produced by NaCl of the soly. of Al2O3 in the fusion depends on the cryolite ratio and decreases relatively with increasing AlF3 concn.
