Abstract: The vapor pressures of 2-ethyl-hexanol (I), 2-ethyl-2-methylpentanol (II), 2-ethyl-2-hexenal (III), and 2-ethyl-4-methyl-2-pentenal (IV) were detd. at 8-740 mm. Hg. Exptl. data were correlated with Antoine's equation log P0 = A - [B/(t + c)]. Values of A, B, c, and the normal b.p. are: I 6.8889, 1325.88, 146.46, 184.34°; II 6.9292, 1326.13, 150.52, 175.57°; III 6.9027, 1485.64, 193.82, 177.05°; IV 7.1408, 1590.55, 210.50, 162.87°. The difference between measured and calcd. values is 0.5 to 0.65%. Log P is approx. linear with the abs. temp. for all 4 compds. The difference in b.ps. between alcs. and aldehydes increases rapidly with decreasing pressure; this is important for sepn. by distn.
