The synchronization of mercury drops for polarographic purposes by a scraper

S. Stankoviansky

State Tech. School, Banska Stiavnica.

Abstract: Six similar dropping electrodes are attached symmetrically to a common Hg reservoir. A small motor-driven scraper rotating in the center of the circle of capillaries detaches the drop from each in turn. By this means the galvanometer oscillations are greatly reduced and a 6-fold increase in sensitivity is secured. Differential polarograms can be secured with two single capillaries, each with its own scraper (the two scrapers should be synchronized by a friction drive from a common motor) in two portions of the same soln.
