Abstract: Poly (2-acetyl pyrrole) P (2-APy) has been prepared chemically using ammonium persulfate (APS) as an initiator under high stirring at room temperature and pH (3.5). The formed P(2-APy) has been fully characterized via Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) as well as UV–VIS spectroscopy. The morphology of the formed polymer has shown core–shell of a ball-like structure in the range of nanoscale. The optical energy gap Eopt and the electrochemical energy gap Eg for the resultant polymer have been determined via UV–Vis spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry, respectively. The ac conductivity measurements have been also investigated. The results showed enhanced optical as well as electrical properties for the formed polymer which can be further exploited for optoelectric devices.
