Abstract:

A new porous polyaminobenzenesulfonic acid (PPABSA) solid acid catalyst was prepared by the one-pot method. The catalysts were characterized by scanning electron microscope, TEM, BET, FTIR, elemental analysis (EDS), and TGA. From the characterization, the catalyzer is porous and well stable. Its catalytic performance was evaluated by synthesizing glycerol monolaurate with lauric acid and glycerine. The reaction process was investigated in detail. The optimum reaction conditions were as follows: the molar ratio of lauric acid to glycerol of 1:2, the catalyst amount of 6 wt%, the reaction temperature of 443 K, and the reaction time of 3.5 h. The conversion rate of lauric acid was 94.89%, and the selectivity reached 61.66% under the optimal condition. The catalytic activity was not declined obviously by reusing five times.
