Abstract:

The aim of this study focused on the detection and quantitative determination of sunflower oil (SFO) adulteration with different other edible oils (rapeseed and soybean) using ATR-FTIR spectroscopy. There are significant differences between the positions of characteristic bands according to the components. Based on their calibration graphs, absorbance versus the percent of adulteration, it is possible to determine the SFO samples’ adulteration. Taking into account the good results obtained in this investigation, it can be concluded that ATR-FTIR spectroscopy can be used as a non-destructive and time-consuming technique for detection of SFO adulteration with rapeseed oil better than in case of soybean oil.
