Abstract:

A novel synthesis of chromenopyridine derivatives has been developed using formyl chromone and β-enaminoester under an indium (III)-mediated approach, which exhibit diverse biological activities. The newly synthesized compounds are characterized and tested for their antifungal activity against the panel of Candida test pathogens. Out of 16 tested compounds, 12 samples exhibited antifungal activity, while four (3c, 3f, 3g and 3n) of them showed good inhibition towards all pathogens. These four samples were further subjected to microbial least inhibition concentration and minimum fungicidal concentration determination; the values were observed between 7.8 and 250 μg/mL towards the selected fungal pathogens.
