Redox Behaviour of Some Superoxide Dismutase-Mimetic Copper(ll) Complexes of  N-Salicylideneaminoalkanoate Type with Diazoles

Abstract: Eight copper(ll) complexes with a tridentate Schiff base and diazoles such as pyrazole, imidazole, and 3,5-dimethylpyrazole have been investigated voltammetrically at a hanging mercury drop electrode in phosphate buffer of pH 7.4. The complexes undergo a reversible one-electron reduction followed by the dissociation of the copper(I) compounds at a slow scan rate. The half-wave potential and rate constant data are reported and discussed with a superoxide dismutase-like activity of the complexes.
