Abstract: The kinetics of the esterification of crotonic acid with octyl, decyl, and dodecyl alcohol has been investigated in an isothermal semibatch reactor using sulfuric acid as the catalyst. The reaction kinetics appeared to be of the second order when it was dependent on the concentrations of both reactants. The temperature dependence of the kinetic parameters was determined in the form of the Arrhenius equation. The values of both parameters of the Arrhenius equation decreased with the molecular mass of aliphatic alcohol.
