Abstract: Polypropylene films used in tubular power capacitors were studied. IR spectroscopy was used to obtain information about their physicochemical properties. Reliable data on the supramolecular structure were obtained from measurements of polarized IR spectra and dichroism calculated from them. The changes of dichroism as a consequence of dipping the films in liquid dielectric at elevated temperatures are discussed.
