Abstract: The problem of kinetics for adsorption/desorption of condensable vapours in porous media is studied theoretically and experimentally. A finite two-dimensional (2D) lattice model with random size distributions of spherical pore sites and cylindrical pore connections fitted to experimental equilibrium data was further improved. Mathematical models of surface diffusion and condensation/evaporation in the lattice were developed and studied theoretically during adsorption/desorption. The theoretical models correctly predict qualitative and quantitative features of the experiments for the system Vycor glass–nitrogen.
