Preparation and antiinflammatory action of thiocarbazone derivatives and their complexes with Cu(II) and Au(III)

Abstract: 5-Nitro-2-furfural thiosemicarbazone, 2-acetylpyridine thiocarbazone (HApt), and their complexes with Cu(II) and Au(III) have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV, conductivity measurements, and thermal analyses. The complexes are nonelectrolytes in methanol and dimethylformamide. Furthermore, the complex Cu(HApt)Cl₂.H₂O was found to be biologically active as demonstrated by antiinflammatory test.
