Investigation of the mechanism of dehydrogenation of cycloalkanes over Cu/Al2O3 catalyst

Abstract: The heterogeneous kinetics of conversion of methylcyclohexane and cyclohexane were studied on copper/alumina catalysts, using a flow technique under normal pressure. It was found that this process is not a simple process of intermediate formation of monomolecular catalytic complex, but instead, a polymolecular catalytic one, in which the decomposition of the polymolecular complex intermediate is the rate-determining step. The textural properties and X-ray diffraction were studied for the solid samples and the nature of the intermediate, heterogeneous catalytic complex, formed was discussed.
