Molar refractivity and interactions in solutions. 1. Molar refractivity of some monovalent ions in aqueous and dimethyl sulfoxide solutions

Abstract: The refractive indices and densities of Li⁺, Na⁺, NH₄⁺, and Ag⁺ nitrates, chlorides, and iodides were measured in aqueous and dimethyl sulfoxide solutions in dependence on the salt content. The molar refractivities were calculated and the polarization effects among the ions and on the solvent are discussed.
