Study of the molecular mobility in isotactic polypropylene by the spin-probe method

Abstract: On the basis of the measured values for T50G for four probes, quantities in isotactic polypropylene related to the molecular mobility are calculated from relations of free volume theory. We have determined: (i) average free volume at the temperature Tg (9 x 10-30 m3) and its temperature dependence and (ii) volume of a moving segment at Tg (3.54 x 10-28 m3).
