Electrochemical behavior of organotin compounds

Abstract:  The results obtained by a systematic electrochemical study of electroreduction of 18 different organostannic compounds of the type R₄Sn, R₃SnX, R₂SnX₂, RSnX₃, R₂(CH₂Cl)SnX, R₆Sn₂, and R₃R'Sn (where R = CH₃, C₄H₉, C₆H₅, (CH₃)₃C) in water, methanol, acetonitrile, and tetrahydrofuran are summarized and discussed in this paper. A general reaction scheme of the electrochemical reduction process has been proposed and the common features as well as peculiarities of individual substances are described.
