Abstract: The title theory is presented, based on the assumption that the dependence of diffusion coeffs. and viscosity on concn. is linear. On the basis of the general transport equations of ions, the boundary conditions of these equations were detd. and simplified transport equations were derived. By integrating the equations, the distribution of the concn. of ions was calcd., which makes it possible to est. the values of limiting currents. From the elec. field distribution and ion concn., the potential and voltammetric characteristics of the method may be derived. The limiting c.d. values of binary electrolytes are compared with the limiting currents in the solns. contg. an indifferent electrolyte. Furthermore, some possible applications of the theory to the detn. of concn. dependence of the diffusion coeffs. of cations and anions from the ratio of c.d. values at different concns., the change in ohmic resistance of the electrolyte, and the change in limiting currents due to varying concn. are presented. The theory is illustrated by numerical calcns.
