Acid-base properties of 1-(2-pyridylazo)-2-naphthol and 1-(2-thiazolylazo)-2-naphthol in a dimethyl sulfoxide and N,N-dimethylformamide medium

Abstract:  The dissociation constants of l-(2-pyridylazo)-2-naphthol and l-(2-thiazolylazo)-2-naphthol in dimethyl sulfoxide and N,N-dimethylformamide have been determined by means of spectrophotometry using buffer mixtures of organic acids and their tetraalkylammonium salts. On the basis of the results obtained the conclusions concerning the influence of solvents on the studied equilibria have been drawn.
