Thin layer chromatography of inorganic ions. VII. Chromatography in the system: DEAE cellulose-aqueous solutions of organic complexing agents

Abstract: Twenty-four metal ions were chromatographed on layers of diethylaminoethylcellulose (DEAE) by using aq. solns. of org. complex-forming agents (glycine, iminodiacetic acid, nitrilotriacetic acid, and EDTA) as mobile phases;the Rf values of the metal ions were plotted as functions of the concn. of the complex-forming substances. Based upon the linearity of the relation RM = f(log[HL]) and on neg. tangencies found for IDA, NTA, and EDTA systems, the reaction scheme responsible for the chromatog. behavior of metal ions was qual. confirmed.
