Benzothiazole compounds. XIII. Synthesis and antitubercular activity of some N-[1-(6-R-2-benzothiazolylamino)-2,2,2-trichloroethyl]formamide, -acetamide, -chloroacetamide, and -benzamide derivatives

Abstract:  The preparation of N-[1-(6-R-2-benzothiazolylamino)-2,2,2-trichIoroethyljformamides, -acetamides, -chloroacetamides, and -benzamides from the original N-(1,2,2,2-tetrachloroethyl)amides and 2-amino-6-R-benzothiazoles (R = C1, Br, N02 , SCN, CH3) is described. Their structures were proved by 1H-n.m.r. spectra. When tested for antitubercular activity, the best results were obtained against the representatives of both the typical and atypical mycobac­teria. With some compounds also the acute toxicity was investigated.
