Nitrophenoxazines as neutralization indicators in acetone for determination of sulfonamides

Abstract:  Potentiometrie and visual microtitrations of 26 model sulfonamides and 5 pharmacologically significant sulfonamides were performed in anhydrous acetone by means of volumetric solution of tetrabutylammonium hydroxide. Linear dependence of the half-neutralization potentials on Hammett substitution constants of the substituents on benzene ring and on HMO electron densities in model series of sulfonamides has been found. 1-Nitrophenoxazine is a suitable indicator for the determination of sulfathiazole, sulfacetamide, sulfamethoxydiazine, sulfadimidine, and sulfamethoxypyridazine under the applied conditions.
