Abstract: The mass transport in porous adsorbents is interpreted for a linear adsorption isotherm and concn.-independent diffusion coeff. on the basis of random motion of a single particle of adsorbate. The wandering of particles is regarded as a Markov process which can be described under some simplifying conditions by the Planck-Fokker equations. A relation between the microscopically measured kinetic curve or its statistical moments, and the quantities characterizing the motion of microparticle is presented. The adsorption process is interpreted as a process involving the desorption of vacancies.
