The influence of ionic strength and temperature on kinetics of alkaline hydrolysis of pentaammine(mono-, di-, and trichloroacetato)cobalt(III) ions

Abstract:  Kinetics of the alkaline hydrolysis of the complex pentaamminechloroacetatocobalt(III) ions in the dependence on temperature and ionic strength was examined. From the temperature dependence of the rate constants extra­polated to the zero ionic strength, corresponding values of the thermodynamic activation parameters were obtained. Results are interpreted under the assumption that the non-electrostatic component represents a significant contribution to the total activation energy.
