Abstract: The effects of structural differences on the reactions of α-, β-, and γ-[Cu(NH3)2(C2O4)] with gaseous and liq. NH3 to give [Cu(NH3)5(C2O4)] were studied. Three different modifications of [Cu(NH3)5(C2O4)] were formed and the thermal decompns. of each gave that modification of [Cu(NH3)2(C2O4)] from which the pentaammine was formed. The ammonation reactions started by substitution of the O atom on the long coordinate in α- and β- [Cu(NH3)2(C2O4)] and by occupying the free coordination positions in γ-[Cu(NH3)2(C2O4)].
