Abstract: A series of inulides from the Jerusalem artichoke (Helianthus tuberosus) can
be separated in its individual components of degree of polymerization
from 1 to 20 by using the chromatography on silica gel with a solvent system:
n-butanol—ethanol—water at a temperature near 50°C. The separated oligosaccharides
are determined automatically and continuously at the outlet
of the column. This method might be extended and used for the separation
of a series of different oligosaccharides with a degree of polymerization
equal or exceeding the value of 20.
