Abstract: The methods of measuring the decompn. potential of Al2O3 and of the other electrolyte components in the systems Na3AlF6-Al2O3 and K3AlF6 -Al2O3 in concns. 0-12.0% Al2O3  at 1000°C are described. The I-E curve method with 2 modifications was applied. In the first modification, an oscilloscope of slow processes with a relay input switch to register I-E curves and in the second one, an 8-coil galvanometer oscillograph and a transistor source of the linearly increasing voltage were applied. The results in both cases were practically the same. The dependence of the decompn. potential of Al2O3  on its concn. in the melt at 1000° is E1000°d(Al2O3) = 2669 - 496 (x + 1)0.1 mV for Na3AlF6-Al2O3 and E1000°d(Al2O3) = 1914 + 259 (x + 1)-0.5 mV for K3AlF6-Al2O3  with x = Al2O3 oncn. in wt. %.
