Thin-layer chromatography of inorganic ions. I. Separation of cations with complexing agents

Abstract: Chromatographic separation of complexes of current cations with diethyldithiocarbamidic acid, dithizone and 8-hydroxyquinoline was studied on the silica gel layers with a number of solvent systems. The separation of 8-hydroxyquinolinates was performed with the system butanol—acetic acid—8-hydroxyquinoline. The ditizonates were applied on the silica gel as the chloroform extract and afterwards they were developed with toluene. The precipitated diethyldithiocarbamates were extracted with chloroform and after this extract has been placed on the layer, the development with benzene took place. In the article, the conditions of the experiments are discussed, the .R_F values are tabulated and the examples of the separation of model mixtures are cited.
