Kinetics study of substitution reactions of chromium(III) complexes. V. Aquation of nitropentaamminechromium(III) ions

Abstract: The paper deals with the study of the aquation of the nitropentaamminechromium(III) ions. The reaction rate was foimd to be practically on concentration within 0.005 —0.1м independent and also no influence of radiation in the region d—d bands of the central atom during the reaction was observed. It has been found that the activation energyvalue is about 11 kcal/mole which is lower, in comparison, with the activation energy values found, in general, for chromium(III) complexes. A reaction mechanism without the cleavage of ligand —metal bond has been suggested.
