Extraction of hydrochloric acid and uranyl chloride by N-octylaniline

Abstract: The extraction of hydrochloric acid and uranyl chloride by N-octylaniline was investigated. The equilibrium rate of uranyl chloride to N-octylaniline was found t o be 1 : 3. By cryoscopic and viscometric measurement the dimerization of this salt in benzene was ascertained. Water determination in the extract, as well as the average polymerization degree reveal that uranyl chloride is extracted by anhydrous N-octylanilinium chloride trimere.
