Abstract: The effect of isobutyric, formic, acetic, acrylic, adipic, and oxalic acids on the hydroformylation of propylene at 150° ± 2° with 0.2% of Co as catalyst (by wt. in the form of di-Co octacarbonyl) in the toluene and acetone medium was studied. It was detd. that by increasing the amts. of these acids c %, the conversion of propylene P % into products of hydroformylation is decreased. For the isobutyric acid, the equation is P = 97-0.7c, for oxalic acid P = 97-16c. The increasing effect of the acids (based on wt.) on the decrease of the conversion of the propylene can be expressed in this order: isobutyric:acetic:oxalic:formic = 1:2.5:23:37.6.
