Abstract: The basis of the solubilization processes of org. compds., esp. those in aq. solns., is explained. From the theoretical standpoint, they can be explained by the effect of van der Waals and electrostatic forces. The van der Waals forces are effective in solubilization processes of the micellar type. The electrostatic forces are responsible for the formation of the donoracceptor mol. complex compds. In both cases, the solubilization effect is dependent on the space arrangement of the mols. or on the d. of the π- and n-electrons. With the donor-acceptor mechanism, the solubilization of the aromatic and heterocyclic compds. can be taken into consideration in the case of the planar complexes. For mols. with an open chain, several center complexes can be formed. The theoretical and practical application of solubilization processes are discussed.
