Determination of trace impurities in trichlorosilane by activation analysis

Abstract: The trace impurities Cu, Sb, Cr, Au, As, Hg, and P in SiHCl₃ were detd. by neutron activation analysis, and a chem. sepn. method was developed. The impurities were bound into a complex by Ph₃CCl, evapd. dry, and irradiated in the solid form by a neutron stream of 1.5 × 10¹³ neutrons/cm² sec. Because a great amt. of Cl interferes with the identification of P, a parallel activation is carried out by using a Cd filter.
