Abstract: Properties of At in M HNO3 and 5 × 10-3M H2Cr2O7 were studied. Astatine is pos. charged under the exptl. conditions, in the electromigrating processes; the At cation has a +1 charge on cation exchangers. During electrolysis, At spontaneously deposits on the neg. charged surface of Pt satd. with O. During copptn. with salts of univalent cations, (tungstophosphates, dichromates, and iodates), which have limited soly., there is practically a complete sorption of At on these ppt., indicating that At is present as a univalent cation. On the basis of these expts., the existence of the univalent At cation was postulated. The compn. of the chloro complex ion of At was detd. and the stability const. calcd. Some phenyl- and tolylmetallic derivs. were prepd. and identified.
