Abstract: cf. CA 54, 21923e. An equation was derived from kinetics of vapor adsorption on porous adsorbents which adsorption equil. are expressed by the theory of Brunauer, Emmett, and Teller, occurring in the case, when the rate of adsorption det. the transportation of the adsorbate on the outside surface of the adsorbent. The equation is: (β/Γ)t = (k1k2/c) {[1/(1 + k1prQ)] - (1/k3) ln (1 + k1prQ)] - (k3/c) {[1/(1 - prQ)] + (1/k2) ln (1 - prQ)} + [(1 + k1pr2)/k2k3] ln (1 - Q) + 1, where k1 = c - 1, k2 = pr - 1, and k3 = 1 + k1pr. On the basis of this equation, on the active carbon 'Supersorbon' at 22°, the theoretical curves of the adsorption rates of CS2 at the concn. range 15-30 g./m.3 and the speed 15-79 cm./sec. were detd. The validity of the equation was proven at the concns. of CS2, usually present in the industrial waste gases.
