Trace determination of iron(II) and iron(III) oxide

Abstract: A colorimetric method was described for the detn. of 0.01 to 3.0% Fe(II) in the single crystals of hematite and hematite ores, after decompn. with concd. HCl under Ar gas. The ferroin-Fe(II)-perchlorate complex was extd. from the Fe(II) soln. in the pH range 4.0 to 5.0 contg. 1,10-phenanthroline, NaClO₄ with NaOAc and Na citrate as buffer and masking agents.
