Abstract: The crystal structure of CuHPO3.2H2O was detd. The structure is composed of zig-zag chains made of deformed octahedrons of the compn. Cu[O3(H2O)3]. The coordination is 4 + 1 + 1. The chains are oriented in the direction of the growth axis and are mutually bound to PO3 groups. The octahedron coordination around Cu is formed by 3 O from various PO3 groups and it is completed by a mol. of H2O. At the tops of the octahedrons are more mols. of H2O at distances of Cu-O 2.32 and 3.03 A. The results of the structure analysis of CuHPO3.2H2O indicate a close relation with the crystal structure of CuSeO3.2H2O and CuTeO3.2H2O. A polyhedron model is shown.
