Evaluation of precipitation titrations through the starting point of precipitate formation

Abstract: The concn. of x in a test soln. can be detd. when gravimetric and titrimetric methods are unsuitable because x forms a ppt. that is rather sol. The exact soly. of the ppt. need not be known. An aliquot, v0 ml., of test soln. is titrated just to the beginning of pptn. with v₁ ml. of titrant. Then v₀' ml. (v₀' = v₀ + y, where y contains a known amt. of x) are similarly titrated with v₁' ml. of titrant. The amt. of x in v₀ is calcd. from x = y [(v'/v₁')[(v_0' + v1')²/(v₀ + v₁)] - 1]^-1.
