The isolation of citrinin from Penicillium notatum

Abstract: The isolation of the antibiotic citrinin is described. On the basis of a 'summary' chromatogram, pH chromatogram, and salting-out chromatogram, infrared spectra and other physicochem, and biol. properties the antibiotic was identified as citrinin. The structure of citrinin was proven by the infrared spectra and it compared favorably with that reported in the literature.
