New complexanes. II. Polarographic determination of the complexing constants of meso- and rac-2,3-diaminobutane-N,N-N',N'-tetraacetic acid with some bivalent cations

Abstract: cf. ibid. 17, 402-10(1963). The complexing properties of meso- and rac-2,3 diaminobutane-N,N,N',N'-tetraacetic acid (rac-I) were compared with those of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (II) and (1,2-cyclohexylenedinitrilo)tetraacetic acid (DCTA). The prepn. and sepn. of the stereoisomers were reviewed. The complexing consts. of meso-I and rac-I with Pb2+, Zn2+, Cu2+, Co2+, and Mn2+ in KNO3 (μ = 0.10, temp. = 20°) were detd. polarographically and compared with values for similar II and DCTA complexes. rac-I consts. are very close those of DCTA; meso-I consts., except for the Pb2+ complex, are higher than those of II. rac-I forms more stable complexes than meso-I.
