Abstract: By the spectrophotometric method, kinetics of substitution reactions of the thiocyanate in trans-[Cr(SCN)2en2]SCN in CH3COO-, NO2-, N3-, and CN- medium with MeOH as a solvent was described. The reactions were detd. by measuring the changes of the absorbance at 314 mμ wavelength with 10-4 concn. of the complex salt and at 50°. The speed of the liberation of the thiocyanate depends on the strength of the acid and it is increased with weak acids and decreased with stronger acids (Cl-, Br-, NO3-). The results of the measurements can be interpreted on the basis of a dissocn. mechanism with the conjugated base as an intermediate.
