Lobelia alkaloids. I. The isolation of (+)-lobeline and the autoisomerization of lobeline isomers

Abstract: (+)-Lobeline-HCl, m. 182°, [α]20D +58° (c 2.0, H₂O); (+)-lobeline, m. 131°, initial [α] + 26° (95% EtOH), after 3 hrs. +40.5°; and (+)-trans-lobeline, an oil which after 5 min. in the soln. has [α] 52° (95% EtOH), were isolated. The change of optical rotations of (+)-trans- and (+)-cis-lobelines in relation to time was given.
