Modification of rubber. IV. The composition of mixtures after grafting butadienestyrene rubber with styrene

Abstract: Several systems of solvent-ppt.: CHCl3-(CH3)2CO, C6H6MeOH, C6H6-(CH3)2CO, C6H6-(CH3)2CO + MeOH 9:1, 3:1, 1:1 by vol. and C6H6-petr. ether, were tried out for sepn. of butadiene-styrene rubber grafted with styrene. A method based on the selective pptn. of C6H6 solns. with petr. ether was worked out. It was found that with increasing time of mixing, the amt. of interpolymer increased. There was no seeding by initiation with K2S2O8 of a mixt. of styrene and butadiene-styrene latex, but by BZ2O2 initiation, a seeded polymer was formed.
