Testing the formation of aluminum chloride complexes with optical rotation in a magnetic field

Abstract: Measuring the optical rotation in a magnetic field of the mutual effect of AlCl₃ and LiCl in aq. soln. is described. In this system a very unstable AlCl₄^- was detd. The instability const. calcd. from the optical and magnetic data was: 5.2 × 10^-1.
